Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa

I recently did a blog about our experience at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Spa and I thought it would be nice to have a review the Harbour Hotel's newest location to the south coast, Southampton.

The first thing you can't ignore when going to the Southampton Harbour Hotel is the incredible structure of the building. Designed to look like a cruise ship that sits in the marina, the hotel itself is a beauty to look at.

As with all Harbour Hotels, you have the option to dine at The Jetty restaurant, which is their higher end eatery or their other on site restaurant which in Southampton, is called HarBAR on 6th. Located on the 6th floor (you see what they did there with the name) the HarBAR has a more relaxed feel and has the most incredible views over the marina.

We have eaten at HarBAR on a few occasions and each time we have been we have been really impressed with the food. Before heading over to our table, we decided to sit near the bar and enjoy a drink or two while chatting and enjoying the view of the boat bobbing around below.

After a much needed drink we headed over to our table to enjoy a steak lunch. My steak was ever so slightly over cooked and the waiter did offer to have it re cooked for me, however due to the quality of the steak, I was happy to eat it even though it was a little on the medium side vs medium rare. However, the service was great.

Once we let our steaks settle, we headed down to the Spa area. Like with Christchurch Harbour, the Spa in Southampton isn't huge but it does offer more than enough space given the limited number of people allowed in at any one time. Given that the UK has had an incredible summer this year, we decided to take full advantage of the external seating area which is a real sun trap in the afternoons. Being by the water and having scorching weather it honestly felt like we were aboard.

After soaking up some sun, we headed up to the treatment area for a massage before having a little snooze in the relaxation room. As it was with the Christchurch Harbour, this room for me was one of my favourite areas. It is so nice to be able to go for a treatment and then head down to a cosy bed with a blanket to relax and unwind. The relaxation room also has some tasty TeaPig teas so you can snuggle up and read a magazine with a nice warm cuppa if you wish.

Overall, I was really happy with our experience and if you are Southampton Football supporter you may even catch a glimpse of the team before their match (as we did, however being huge football fans this didn't make any difference to us, but for all those ladies out there who want to entice their football loving fella's to a spa session on game day, this could be your in! Thank me later haha).

I honestly couldn't fault the Spa on anything at all and cannot wait until my next treatment. Living just outside of Southampton it is great to know that there is a Harbour Hotel more locally than Christchurch or Guildford for a cheeky spa session or cocktail!
