Coffee and Cake, Coffee & Drift, Lymington

Image
Lymington is such a beautiful little town based on the South Coast in the New Forest. If you haven’t been before, it is a lovely place to go for a walk as there are lots of little routes here, there and everywhere. There is also a very sweet high-street which is nice to have a meander around, especially on market day. Right on the waterfront in the quay is Coffee & Drift. Open 7 days a week, Coffee & Drift offers a range of drinks and food, of all which is locally sourced. We popped in for a coffee and cake and were really surprised by the amount of vegan cakes on offer. We aren't vegan ourselves, but it is good to know. One other thing I really liked was that they had fresh fruit on offer! How often do you see that these days when you go to a cafe? And it was ripe and not gone off, well done Coffee & Drift! We decided to grab a coffee and a cake and sit outside on a crisp Sunday morning. It was nice to be able to enjoy a coffee near the water, although ...

Dinner, Cheesecake Factory, Dubai

Image
I don't know about you, but whenever I think about the Cheesecake Factory, I automatically think about Penny in The Big Bang Theory. When I was in Dubai at the end of January, we were at the end of a very busy trip and wanted some comfort food. It was the night before we were due to fly home and we were shattered and burgers and cheesecake sounded like the perfect meal. Our hotel was in the same complex as the Festival City Shipping Centre, so it was a nice short and easy walk to find food. Having visited The Cheesecake Factory before, I knew there was no point in me ordering a starter. First of all, the mains are huge and secondly, who wants to fill up on savoury starters when there is cheesecake on the menu? For my main, I had the macaroni and cheese burger with 'upgraded' sweet potato fries. It still makes me laugh when restaurant make you pay extra for sweet potato fries. There is no extra work that goes into prepping sweet potatoes fries vs normal fries. I love...

Moxy Hotel Launch, Southampton

Image
During the second week of January, the Soton Bloggers were invited to the launch of the brand new Moxy Hotel in Southampton. Moxy is one of the many brands under the Marriott umbrella, with this particular hotel located on Harbour Parade, which means it’s right next to West Quay shopping centre. On their website , Marriott separate their hotels into subgroups and Moxy falls into their 'distinctive select' category, whatever that means! They state that the hotels offers 'cozy rooms' with social spaces and a 'fun experience at the right price'. To me, when I picture Marriott, I see their high end brands in my head so I find it very interesting that they are looking to compete in this space. They feel like they are trying to take on Premier Inns, Hoilday Inns etc, but with a fun twist. When you head over to the Moxy website, you are given a taste of the relaxed, fun vibe they are trying to create with this brand. They are clearly aiming at a younger client gr...
