Disney Hotel and Frozen Afternoon Tea, Disneyland, Hong Kong

Image
Yes, you did read that title right, a Frozen Afternoon Tea at Disneyland! At the end of November 2019, we were at Disneyland in Hong Kong for a wedding and were lucky enough to spend the night in the Frozen Suite. As you entered the suite, you had a guest toilet and storage and then walked through into the main living space. The decor was incredible, I was blown away by it as an adult so I can only imagine how it would feel to stay in that room as a child. The TV was on playing Frozen music and flipping between images from the film and the sofa was actually a slay! Check it out below. There was also a little play area which had a life-sized Olaf  stuffed toy (well, life-sized if you are round 5 or 6 years old!) and a load of other Frozen toys and books. They were all for sale if you wanted to purchase them, but holy moly they were crazy expensive.  On to the bedroom, and there are two double beds, one with Anna at the head and one with Elsa at the head. Th...

Crowna Plaza Festival City, Dubai

Image
At the end of January, I headed over to Dubai on a work trip and was lucky enough to stay at the Crowne Plaza Festival City for the second time. The Festival City complex has shops, restaurants and hotels and is a short taxi ride from Dubai International Airport. The hotel looks over Dubai Creek and has beautiful views of downtown Dubai, including the Burj Khalifa. We flew in on an overnight flight which meant arriving early on a Sunday morning. Even though check in wasn't due to be for a few hours, the staff were more than happy to see if we could access our rooms early, which luckily, we were able to. If this hadn't been possible, we would have been welcome to use the gym / swimming pool showers to freshen up. It's small things like this which make a big difference, especially if you are travelling for work and need to get to an early meeting. The rooms are very spacious with good wardrobe space, a must when you are staying away for more than 2 or 3 nights. They...

Septemeber Stay, Chateau La Thuiliere

Image
Full disclosure, we visited Chateau La Thuiliere back in 2017, but I am 100% confident that the same things we adored about our stay will still be fully relevant to this day. It was around this time in 2017 that we visited, so I thought why not do a little throw back? You know that feeling when you look back on something with such fond memories that you just smile? That is how I remember our stay at Chateau La Thuiliere. Like a beautiful dream I never wish to forget.  As you turn into the grounds, your breath is taken away. The road to the car park leads you through the grounds where you are greeted by Jordi, the owner. From our conversations with him, the Chateau has been a real labour of love to bring the building to the magnificent hideaway it is now. Once you are all checked in, a quick tour around the Chateau and you are set to take a deep breath and relax. The Chateau has so many little spaces here and there that you can enjoy as a couple, but when it comes to...

Son Spa Hotel, Norway

Image
Approximately an hour outside of Oslo and perched beautifully on the side of the ocean is the idyllic Son Spa Hotel. We visited at the beginning of February when there was still a little bit of snow on the ground and it was breath-taking. The nights were still drawing in early and the sunset over the peaceful shore was stunning. As you would imagine, the décor is simple yet elegant making the hotel feel relaxed yet sophisticated. The staff at reception were possibly the happiest and most welcoming hotel staff I have ever met. For dinner, we headed down to the restaurant and enjoyed a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. I had a scallop starter (which I forgot to photograph). It was so fresh and full of flavour, you could tell it had been recently caught. For my main, I went for something a little bit more decadent, the lobster and steak. Again, you could tell the lobster was fresh and the steak was so soft and tender. It was a little bit messy, but definitely ...

Shangri-La at the Fort - Manila, Philippines

Image
For our second blog in our hotel series, we pop to the Philippines. I actually flew straight to Manila from Singapore, so for me, it made sense to write this blog next. This was my first time in the Philippines and to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had been told of it's beauty, but also of it's poverty. So I was a little nervous about this leg of the journey. After what felt like a lifetime trying to get out of the queue of traffic from the airport, we were on our way. As you approach the Shangri-La at the Fort, you could be mistaken for thinking you had fallen asleep and woke up in America. Wide streets, America restaurants, super car dealerships. Not what I had been expecting at all, but then I didn't know what to expect. As you turn off from the main street and enter the complex, security at the Shangri-La is high. Security style metal detectors were an odd way to enter a hotel (well, for me at least). However, once you moved through this odd entrance...

JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach

Image
This blog is a little bit different to our usual post here at SistersDineOut. We thought it would be interesting for our readers if we expanded our blogging content to also include hotels. If our readers enjoy the series, then we will continue to add them to our blog, so let us know what you think!  I thought we would kick start things with a little throwback to a hotel I stayed in at the end of August last year when visiting Singapore. I decided to start the hotel series with this hotel as it has been one of the most memorable stays of the past 12 months.  The design of the building is a thing of beauty. Sleek curves and sculptural, the hotel is extremely pleasing to the eye. When you arrive, the large courtyard at the front of the hotel features a beautiful fountain and is a large open space. From here, you can access the hotel itself, the conference facilitates and a number of restaurants. Access to public transport is a short walk away.  (sour...
