Josie's, Winchester & Petersfield

Brunch is without a doubt my favourite meal of the day and I love spending a lazy Saturday or Sunday chatting over a coffee and a tasty treat. For me, brunch is all about slowing down and taking the time to really enjoy a meal and whoever you are sharing it with, which I think it why I love it so much. We spend so much of our time rushing here there and everywhere and it when it comes to booking in a brunch, either with friends or family, I always make sure I don't book anything else for the rest of the day. And given the menu at Josie’s I would defiantly recommend blocking out your whole day!

With locations in Winchester, Bishops Waltham and Petersfield, Josie's is a family run independent group. I have been to both Winchester and most recently Petersfield.

We decided to start our epic brunch with a savoury course, naturally before moving onto the thing that lured me in in the first place, their pancakes! But all in good time….

I started my meal off with the Chorizo & Edameme on Toast (which I think was a special when I had it). Chorizo, pancetta, edamame and broad beans on toasted sourdough with tomato jam and poached eggs. What is not to like about this combo? It was delicious.

After a few coffees and letting our savoury starters settled…it was time to move on to Josie’s legendary pancakes. Now if you are choosing to be healthy you can just get one sad lonely pancake, or you can get a 2 or 3 stack. The menu is making salivate just looking at it right now.

There are a range of pancakes from savoury to fruity to chocolatey, so take your pick! Or even better, get a friend to order a different flavour so you can try more than one like we did! Given that we had already had a savoury breakfast, we decided to test the seasonal fruit pancakes and the mars bar pancakes.

This time, we went for the Banoffee pancakes and the special, Peanut Butter and Jam. We both decided to go for the triple stack forgetting quiet how large their pancakes are! When they arrived we knew straight away we should have ordered 1, max 2 each haha. They were both super sweet but incredibly tasty. The staff did offer to box up what we couldn't eat but I just couldn't face more pancakes that day!

Although the pancakes are tasty and extremely filling, I would say they are more like cakes! This time because I had the peanut butter and jam (which to be honest was more jam than anything) it felt more like I was eating a Victoria sponge, which isn't a bad thing..if you fancy a Victoria sponge

I will most likely go back to Josie's but next time, I will remember to rein it in when I order.
