Summer lunch, Zizzi, Port Solent

Image
One of the best things about living on the South coast is how close you are to the water. During summer, I love to be close to the sea. There is something about the fresh sea air that makes you feel clam and relaxed. So when you throw some food and sunshine into the mix, I'm in heaven. We popped into Port Solent on our way back form Gunwharf Quays (which is an incredible designer outlet for anyone who hasn't been yet) to grab a quick bite to eat. Port Solent has a mixture of restaurants and shops around the edge of a beautiful marina. Click here to see a full list restaurants.  Zizzi's is on the ground floor and has masses of outside seating so that in summer, you can take full advantage of the views. When the weather is warmer, I tend to stay away from large dishes, so rather than choosing a main dish for my lunch, I decided to have two starters instead. First, I picked the 'summer special' deep fried rainbow gnocchi filled with oozy mozzarella and top

Shangri-La at the Fort - Manila, Philippines

Image
For our second blog in our hotel series, we pop to the Philippines. I actually flew straight to Manila from Singapore, so for me, it made sense to write this blog next. This was my first time in the Philippines and to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had been told of it's beauty, but also of it's poverty. So I was a little nervous about this leg of the journey. After what felt like a lifetime trying to get out of the queue of traffic from the airport, we were on our way. As you approach the Shangri-La at the Fort, you could be mistaken for thinking you had fallen asleep and woke up in America. Wide streets, America restaurants, super car dealerships. Not what I had been expecting at all, but then I didn't know what to expect. As you turn off from the main street and enter the complex, security at the Shangri-La is high. Security style metal detectors were an odd way to enter a hotel (well, for me at least). However, once you moved through this odd entrance

Brunch, Limes Resturant, Lindfield

Image
Just north of Haywards Heath on the edge of the beautiful West Sussex countryside, is a little village called Lindfield. Picturesque and quaint, the high street is predominately made up of local business, Limes Restaurant, being one of them. As well as serving food, Limes offers visitors the ability to book into their two guests apartments located above the restaurant. For our trip, we popped in for a spot of brunch last Sunday morning. The restaurant is very functional in terms of it's decor, nothing too over the top. Comfortable, practical and clean are the words that come to mind. They also have a number of Certificates of Excellence from TripAdvisor, which is nice to see. (Source :  https://www.instagram.com/p/Br8KDzHAuJD/ Limes Instagram) The sleepy village seems to spring to life around 10.30am on a Sunday and Limes is no exception. And let me tell you why. Offering a vast range of breakfast delights, the menu caters to guests looking for either a sweet or savour

JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach

Image
This blog is a little bit different to our usual post here at SistersDineOut. We thought it would be interesting for our readers if we expanded our blogging content to also include hotels. If our readers enjoy the series, then we will continue to add them to our blog, so let us know what you think!  I thought we would kick start things with a little throwback to a hotel I stayed in at the end of August last year when visiting Singapore. I decided to start the hotel series with this hotel as it has been one of the most memorable stays of the past 12 months.  The design of the building is a thing of beauty. Sleek curves and sculptural, the hotel is extremely pleasing to the eye. When you arrive, the large courtyard at the front of the hotel features a beautiful fountain and is a large open space. From here, you can access the hotel itself, the conference facilitates and a number of restaurants. Access to public transport is a short walk away.  (source  https://news.marriott.com

The Oven, Bath

Image
On a rather drizzly day last month, we popped into Bath for the afternoon and stumbled across The Oven. On cold and rainy days, it's nice to warm the soul with some comfort food, and what better comfort food to eat than pizza? Melted cheese on a carb base, the only thing that beats cheese and carbs is chocolate and carbs haha! The Oven is an independent pizzeria located on Saw Close in Bath (BA1 1EY). It has won a number of awards including Pizza Chef of the year in 2016. The pizzeria prides itself on using the highly regarded Italian stone-ground 'petra' flour for it's tasty base. This, in combination with being baked in a traditional wood-fire oven, gives the pizza their beautiful crust filled with flavour. The restaurant itself has a lovely warm and cosy feel, just what we needed on our visit. However, they also have offer alfresco dining, perfect on a summers day or evening.
