During this time of quarantine, I started looking through my old photos and realised how many Afternoon Tea's or beautiful meals we had enjoyed before we started our blog. So I thought why not take a trip down memory lane and share these experiences with our wonderful readers? As the title suggests, I had this Afternoon Tea back in 2016 and although my memory is good, remembering flavours from that long ago would be impressive and unfortunately, that is not a skill I possess. So I will share what I can and if nothing else, I hope you are able to enjoy the pictures of the cakes as they are beautiful works of art! Being a real foodie, I find that picking just one dish off a menu can be a real emotional roller coaster. Do I want this or that? I always want it all. So dim sum is a great option for me, bite-sized portions of each dish give you the chance to try a who host of things on the menu without over indulging. Sometimes, a mouthful or two is all you need to experience the dish. We visited Ping Pong Soho on a weekday for a light lunch. The restaurant itself is like a tardis; entering from the street it appears quite small, but as you walk through it opens up and reveals a large space spanning across two levels. To start, we ordered the crispy duck spring roll served with hoi sin sauce and roast pork puff. The duck rolls were perfection however the roast pork puff wasn't something I would order again. A few weeks ago, we had our first trip to Tooting Market. The venue is full of little eateries and offers all kinds of cuisines. You can mooch around at your own merry pace having a little nosy at what everyone else is eating before you decide what you want. It is also a great place to go if you are a large group and can't decide on what to eat. Go your separate ways for food, then meet up afterwards at one of the many bars! So after wondering here and there, we decided a big ol' burger would do the trick. We stumbled across Boom Bap Burger, aptly named because they love 'Flippin' meats, droppin' beats'. Having stayed in a number of Hotel Du Vin's over the years, Wimbledon shines through as my favourite in the chain. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with number of gardens and walks. During the summer months it is the perfect place to sit in the sun and enjoy a Sunday afternoon. It's great being a short walk from the gorgeous Wimbledon village, a fantastic part of London which we love staying in. We popped to London back in October and ended up staying for two nights to celebrate my birthday. On the first night, we opted to eat in and make the most of the beautiful restaurant. Clos Maggiore has been on my 'hit list' of restaurants for a good few years. So, this year when my husband asked what I wanted to do for my birthday, I knew exactly where I wanted to go.  Earlier this year, Secret London ( www.secretldn.com ) blogged that Clos Maggiore might be ‘ the world’s most romantic restaurant’ . One of the best things about being an adult is being able to eat whatever you like for breakfast, including cake. This year we headed to London to celebrate my birthday and the first stop for my birthday was of course, Peggy Porschen's. Emma and I first visited Peggy's back in November last year when we were having a sisters weekend in London and I instantly feel in love. The décor is everything and not only does everything look beautiful, but the cakes are out of this world. I love that Peggy's makes the effort to update their décor based on the season and this time of year, it's all about Halloween. Sometimes, you just have to say YES to the cake. PleeseCakes have been on our radar for a little while after Em found them on Instagram. Ever since we set eyes on their decadent cheesecakes we have been longing for an excuse to have one! My husband, Em's brother, turned the big 3-0 in July and we thought there'd be no better way to mark the start of a new decade than with a fully loaded cheesecake. Makes total sense I hear you say! I'm pretty sure anyone who has a Facebook account would have seen the adverts for the Beauty and The Beast themed afternoon tea at The Kensington Hotel last year. The afternoon tea was originally due to be a limited time event, but due to the incredible response of people who wanted to experience this interesting twist on the traditional afternoon tea, it has at present, been extended.  In November 2017, we finally managed to get a reservation for the Tale As Old As Time Afternoon Tea, so we headed down to London with our other little sister to see what all the fuss was about.  Based in South Kensington, The Kensington Hotel itself is a beautiful building and the interior design is stunning.
