Josie's, Winchester & Petersfield

Image
Brunch is without a doubt my favourite meal of the day and I love spending a lazy Saturday or Sunday chatting over a coffee and a tasty treat. For me, brunch is all about slowing down and taking the time to really enjoy a meal and whoever you are sharing it with, which I think it why I love it so much. We spend so much of our time rushing here there and everywhere and it when it comes to booking in a brunch, either with friends or family, I always make sure I don't book anything else for the rest of the day. And given the menu at Josie’s I would defiantly recommend blocking out your whole day! With locations in Winchester, Bishops Waltham and Petersfield, Josie's is a family run independent group. I have been to both Winchester and most recently Petersfield. We decided to start our epic brunch with a savoury course, naturally before moving onto the thing that lured me in in the first place, their pancakes! But all in good time…. I started my meal off with the Chorizo

Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa

Image
I recently did a blog about our experience at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Spa and I thought it would be nice to have a review the Harbour Hotel's newest location to the south coast, Southampton. The first thing you can't ignore when going to the Southampton Harbour Hotel is the incredible structure of the building. Designed to look like a cruise ship that sits in the marina, the hotel itself is a beauty to look at. As with all Harbour Hotels, you have the option to dine at The Jetty restaurant, which is their higher end eatery or their other on site restaurant which in Southampton, is called HarBAR on 6th. Located on the 6th floor (you see what they did there with the name) the HarBAR has a more relaxed feel and has the most incredible views over the marina. We have eaten at HarBAR on a few occasions and each time we have been we have been really impressed with the food. Before heading over to our table, we decided to sit near the bar and enjoy a drink or two whi

No Man's Fort, Overnight Stay

Image
At the end of July, we jumped on a boat and sailed across the Solent to No Man's Fort, part of the Solent Forts group. Visiting No Man's has been on our list of things to do for quite a while so we were really excited to finally see what all the fuss was about. We parked at Gunwharf Quays as the boat leaves from the shopping outlet and made our way to the check in desk. After dropping off our bags, we had a little bit of time to do some shopping and grab a quick bite to eat before setting sail. Normally, the boat goes via Spitbank Fort but on this occasion it was being used for a private event so we wizzed past and headed to our fort. The journey took around 30 minutes and was really enjoyable given the calm waters and beautiful blue skies. When you board the fort, you are welcomed with a glass of prosecco and then the guests are split into two parties, the day guests and overnight guests. From here you are taken on a tour of the fort and are told about its interestin

Kota Resutart, Porthleven

Image
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to enjoy this gorgeous sunny weather with a little breakaway in Cornwall with family. Lucky for us we had some insider local knowledge that we had to try Kota restaurant in Porthleven for a family celebration dinner. Sat at a table with a full view of the harbour, the service at Kota was fantastic from start to finish and all the staff know their dishes well. I started with Crab Raviolo, presented so beautifully and showing off the flavour of local seafood. The crab starter was followed by Roast Five Spiced Cornish duck breast which again was a piece of art in itself and tasted as good as it looked. I finished with a cheeky dessert (well we were celebrating!) of the Rhubarb and Custard Millefeuille with a ginger sorbet. I have a real sweet tooth and this did not disappoint. Looking around the table I think I could have eaten any of the meals that came out, and the chef was very flexible when it came to vegetarian and vegan requir

Afternoon tea & Spa, Christchurch Harbour Hotel

Image
Back in October we had a wonderful spa session followed by Afternoon Tea at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Spa, known as HarSPA. Located on the Dorset coastline, the hotel overlooks the harbour and is the perfect spot to relax and absorb the magnificent sea views.  As with all Harbour Hotels in the chain, there is also the option to dine at The Jetty restaurant. The Jetty at Christchurch is award winning and is situated on the waters edge (you can just see it poking out of the left hand side of the picture below). The Jetty is defiantly on our hit list of places to dine in the future. On arrival you are given complimentary slippers, a robe and towels so that you can feel all snuggly once you are in the HarSPA. The spa has 5 treatments rooms, an indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, salt grotto and a steam room on offer and is illuminated with calming lights.  There is also the ‘Hide Away’ for over 16’s only which is a quiet area where you can read magazines, drink fruit infu

PleeseCakes Cheesecakes!

Image
Sometimes, you just have to say YES to the cake. PleeseCakes have been on our radar for a little while after Em found them on Instagram. Ever since we set eyes on their decadent cheesecakes we have been longing for an excuse to have one! My husband, Em's brother, turned the big 3-0 in July and we thought there'd be no better way to mark the start of a new decade than with a fully loaded cheesecake. Makes total sense I hear you say! I'm glad we're on the same page ;) A few months after our first communications with Sam at PleeseCakes, our beautiful creation was  ready! So Em dashed up to Epsom (as PleeseCake don't currently deliver as far as Southampton) to pick up the most extravagant cake you could imagine.  When you order your PleeseCake you can have a completely custom cake or pick from their 'standard' list. I'm not even joking when I say picking a flavour was one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make this year. Every opti

Afternoon Tea at the White Horse Romsey

Image
Living in Romsey, I’m no stranger to The White Horse Brassiere. Usually, my husband and I indulge in the 7 course-tasting menu by the incredibly talented Nick O’Halloran and his team (which I would highly recommend by the way) . However on this occasion, SistersDineOut experienced the charming Afternoon Tea in the beautiful oak-beamed lounge. Having been ‘Highly Commended’ by the Afternoon Tea awards in July 2018, we were feeling rather excited to get stuck in. One of the things I love the most about afternoon tea at The White Horse is their extensive range of teas. And not just any teas, they serve the wonderful Tea Pigs range and to top it off…you can switch flavours to your hearts content! It sounds like something so small, but we feel it really adds to you afternoon tea experience. For us, we started off with something light and fresh, lemongrass for Emma and lemon & ginger for me. When our sweets arrived, we swapped over to the delightfully floral jasmine tea.
